😮DID YOU HEAR? CALGARY NEWS & WHAT PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT

What the group chat is talking about this week. 💬
I was in line for something this week and overheard people say “what’s River Hall?” in conversation. I was shocked that people still don’t know what it is! River Hall is a fun free set up next to the Bow River downtown. There’s free live music, dancing, yoga, and all sorts of programming. Plus there’s food, drinks (alcoholic too!) and ice cream! The last weekend is Sept 28.
I did a fun collab with Motel 6 in Airdrie where I got to try the most viral foods in Airdrie and it was really fun! Everyone talks about the shawarama but I tried some amazing cinnamon bun pancakes and pulled pork bun too. Plus I stopped by their local brewery and spent money outlet shopping at Crossiron. 10/10 staycation.
If you’re wanting to hit up an outdoor movie night this summer, Kelsey put together a nifty list here.
I know its too early to talk Christmas, but if you wanna get the good seats, you can buy tickets to The Tenors’ show in November now.
Sea Change Brewing finally opened downtown. Kelsey visited on opening night but I still haven’t made it yet (I am jealous).
Only 2 more weeks to try Jinya’s summer deal menu. Bailey and I went and it was freakin gooood. I need to go back for that pork chasu rice bowl alone. (2 items for $12 or 3 for $18)
Mount Pleasant Vintage just opened and coincidentally I went to the Vancouver location earlier this year and loved it. I have heard good things about the Calgary one. Actually people were raving about it, so I need to move this to the top of my list to visit!
In other, somewhat confusing news, I went to the new Hunter Canmore location as invited media and it was lovely. But the confusing part was that we weren’t allowed to share our experience (take photo or video). I think it had something to do with staying on brand? They had a photographer take pictures of us, but I looked ugly in all the pics (not the photographer’s fault, its my face’s fault) so I didn’t share any of them on my account. So that’s why no restaurant review from me.🤷 They will be opening a Hunter location in Calgary later this year.
