A curated list of the best fun events! Get out of your house and do one (or more!) of these fun events happening this week!

MONDAY

• 🚴 TOUR DE BOWNESS STREET FESTIVAL: It’s a bike race and a street festival with vendors and food trucks and everything to make for an awesome day. Free festival entry!

TUESDAY

• 🛍️ STEPHEN AVENUE MARKET: Every Tuesday this summer at 11am until 4pm you can catch street vendors along Stephen Avenue

• 🖼️ BUMP MURAL FESTIVAL: A celebration of Calgary’s eclectic murals Aug 1-18. Sign up for free tour or longer paid tours available as well.

• 🦪 NATIONAL OYSTER DAY: Get happy hour oysters at Rodney’s Oyster House all day long. 6 oysters and a drink for $25.

WEDNESDAY

• 🎭 FRINGE FEST: This eclectic theatre festival is on Aug 1-9 at multiple venues. See their website for details and tickets

THURSDAY

• 🌙 KENSINGTON NIGHT MARKET: Do a little shopping on a beautiful Kensington evening

• 🎨 FIRST FREE THURSDAY: Check out Contemporary Calgary for free on the first Thursday every month

FRIDAY

• 🍽️ ALBERTA ON THE PLATE: Restaurants throughout the province participate in this festival designed to highlight Alberta meats and produce. Festival menus will be released Aug 5. Then you can make your reso from Aug 8-17

• ⚡ SPARK AFTER DARK: Adults Only Night is back at Telus Spark! Science is fun and this particular science night is music themed. Tickets are $33 each (18+).

• 🐉 DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL: Dragon Boat Racing plus a 50 vendor market and beer gardens and food trucks. Admission is free, and they have free parking and a free shuttle. That’s pretty awesome. Aug 8-10

• 🏀 CALGARY SURGE HOME GAME: It looks like there are only 2 regular season games left for the Calgary Surge, see them Friday at Winsport or on Sunday at the Saddledome.

• 🦍 COCKTAILS FOR CONSERVATION: This annual upscale night at the Zoo is a special fundraiser with food and drinks at stations throughout the Zoo. (Tickets are $99 or $129 for VIP)

• 🛍️ INGLEWOOD NIGHT MARKET: Catch this busy night market in the heart of Inglewood. (Parking is difficult for this one, take an uber or plan to park far away)

SATURDAY

• 🟡 BIG BOUNCE CANADA: Kicks off Aug 9 and has dates until the 17th. Take your kids or hit up an Adults-only night. I did this last year and thought it was amazing! I recommend wearing more clothing as you’ll slide better.

• 🇰🇷 KOREAN DAY FESTIVAL: Food vendors and cultural performances, plus its FREE! Aug 9-10

• ⚽ CAVALRY HOME GAME: Catch a soccer game at Spruce Meadows

• 🌗 CALGARY BRIDGELAND NIGHT MARKET: Shop in Bridgeland

• 🏮 WATER LANTERN FESTIVAL: Can’t say I’ve been to this but find more info on their site.

• 🏈 STAMPS HOME GAME: Stampeders vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Game starts at 5pm (tix $40+)

SUNDAY

• 🎵 RCMP MUSICAL RIDE: On both Saturday and Sunday at Century Downs. Get $25 general admission tix, $15 for youth and free for kids under 6.

• 🎊 MARDA GRAS: Marda Loop’s biggest festival! This is their 40th year anniversary as well. Free entry!

• 🍻 JAMESONS: All day happy hour

• The Back Alley is now “The Arrowhead” a venue for live music and events.

• High River Sunset Drive-in is now open for drive in movies throughout August.
