šļøSUNDAY SNEAK PEEK - Feb 9, 2025
Your key to Calgary's headliners, hot spots, & hidden gems.
Hi friend,
Eeek! I was nervous pressing āsendā on this! Itās my āØNEWāØ newsletter! Are you impressed? Well ya better be cuz Iām tryinā over here. š
Like I mentioned on my IG stories this week, its a bit of a work in progress as Iām testing out different sections. Whatās neato about this fancy newsletter is that I can now see what youāre interested in, in terms of where you click. Before you panic and think Iām stalking you, š³ relax, I mean where EVERYONE clicks as a group. So if 300 people click on one section and 3 click on another, I maybe be cutting the second section (sorry!) but pumping up that popular section. Essentially you are making this newsletter better by voting with your clicks.
Anyways, enough tech stuff, ON TO THE REAL LIFE FUN STUFFFFFF!!
Now, letās find you something fun to look forward to this week!

- Sarah
š„ HEADLINERS THIS WEEK š„
Get out of your house and do one (or more!) of these fun events happening this week!
Monday
Name that Tune at Cabin Brewing - My friend Craig has been doing these Trivia nights since forever. Well, since I met him, like 7 years ago. Thatās how I know itās good. (Also because his nickname is Trivia Daddy.)
Tuesday
Free Euchre Tournament at Cold Garden (Tuesdays) - Do I know what Euchre is? No. But I do know that everything Cold Garden touches is cool, so Iām predicting this weekly card game gathering will be a popular spot to meet up. Perhaps I should learn this game.
Wednesday
4 Nations Face Off (12th, 15th, 17th) - I got a press release that said Hitmanās Bar is the official Molsen Headquarters for the 4 Nations Face Off. I donāt quite know what that means, but hey I find Hitmanās to be a fantastic sports bar so I like it. If I watched hockey I might even go to this (also so I could have 17 hitman spritzš¹)
Thursday
Alberta Ballet Dance of Harlem (13th-15th) - Is it just me or is ballet romantic? I think this is fantastic valentineās weekend activity. š©° Grab tix Thur, Fri or Sat.
Wild After Hours: In the Heat of the Night (13th-15th) - This frisky 18+ night gives you a fascinating look into animal mating. Includes a 4 course meal! I canāt say Iāve ever been to one of these but the 14th and 15th is already sold out so thatās probably a sign itās good.
šFriday (Valentineās Day!)š
Valentineās Day - Putting this here so you donāt forget! Also linking my āValentineās in Calgaryā guide if you need some inspo!
Spark After Dark: Guilty Pleasures - If youāve never been to one of Telus Sparkās adults only nights you really should! They each have unique themes and this is a Valentineās theme one. If you want to spend a little extra and treat somebody this particular one also has a Valentineās Buffet or a Cocktail Class you can sign up for bonus fun.
Block Heater (14th-15th) - In itās 10th year (wow) this music festival put on by Calgary Folk Music Festival is at multiple venues over 2 days. My friendās told me they like TEKE:TEKE so I was like you know what, hell ya! And bought myself a ticket. Guess Iāll find out what kind of music it is when I get there.
Valentineās Pirate Wedding Dinner Theatre - This event at Deerfoot Casino caught my attention as itās a ālive, interactive, gameshowā with Pirates? And on Valentineās?! ā ļø Ahoy! And a bottle of rum.
2025 Oscar Nominated Short Films (14th-16th) - Pick your category Animated, Live Action, or Documentary, or why not all? š½ļø Put on by CIFF! Thanks CIFF, we love you. šæ
Tchaikovsky in Love by Calgary Philharmonic (14th-15th) - There are still tickets left for this! Although youāll likely be in the balcony area. Which is actually where I sat recently when I sent to the Bond and Beyond at Jack Singer a few weeks ago. It was excellent, I predict this will be excellent too.
Saturday
SkijorDue 2025 - ā·ļø Iām heading to this one with a couple friends! (just for Saturday) Pumped to see this eccentric sport. I think Baden might be checking it out too. Say hi if ya see us!
Bow Habitat Station Fishtival - oh man I am sad I am missing this. I remember I missed the Fishtival last year and now Iām missing it again. This is probably more of a thing for families but anyone with an interest in nature should definitely check this place out. There is so much here! I went on one of their adults only nights and thought it was simply fantastic. Hoping they do more of them this year.
Sunday
Winter Pop-up at University District - Have fun at this little skating party in this awesome neighborhood. Technically, you can go skating anytime at U/D, but theyāll have fires and smores Sunday afternoon!
Imaginasian: Asian Night Market (14th-16th) - You can actually catch this market all weekend as part of Chinook Blast. Super neat, thereās a lantern parade on the Fri 14th at 5:30pm. š®

š¤« ANNOUNCEMENTS & HOT GOSSIP š¤«
Hereās what people are talking about this week in Calgary. I get this insider info from press releases, local businesses who send me their news, my own personal IG stalking, and last but not least, convos with you!
This is cute. Mobile Escape City is doing free pop-up escape rooms at Pixel Park for Chinook Blast Winter Festival. Theyāre only 15 minutes to do, so if youāre in the area stop by and try to escape!
Perhaps youāve heard some rumblings about Burger it Forward? š This nationwide month-long initiative involves restaurants across the country. You can see a list of participating restaurants here (unfortunately they lumped Edmonton into the list too lol). Anyway, if you buy a burger from the list, Canada Beef will donate a meal to Food Bank Canada. Neato.
AND, in related news. Concorde released their āgolden pattyā passport. Basically you eat 9 Concorde burgers in Feb and youāre entered to win free burgers for a year (52 burgers!!). Honestly, how many people are going to enter this? I feel like your odds are very good if you actually pull this off.
Cirque du Soleil announced theyāre coming to Calgary in the fall with their show Echo. You just know itās gonna be good. Tickets go on sale Monday.
Jann Arden was sick at Christmas and wasnāt able to do her Christmas special but if youāre a fan, youāre in luck! As sheāll be back June 25 with her āMixed Tapeā tour. Iām guessing this will sell out? Donāt hesitate if youāre interested.
Are you a lucky person?! Then you should go to Bottlescrew Bills because you can get your meal FREE in Feb! Before you pay, pick a number, roll a die and if your chosen number comes up - your meal is free! FUN! (i love gambling)
Also related to Bottlescrew Bills, tickets to BSB Beerfest are on sale now. This afternoon event is in itās 30th year and is well known by industry people. Itās a fantastic beerfest in a small space with a lot of beer that gets drank with friendly local people. Highly recommend. Iām out of town otherwise Iād be buying tickets to this. š„
Iāve never been, but once a year Cowboys hosts its Annual All You Can Eat Wing Off event where restaurants from around the city bring in their wings and you eat as much as you can! š Alas, I am out of town again this year. Tell me how it is!
š ICYMI: THE āGRAM IN REVIEW š
In case you missed it, here are some of the highlights from our Instagram this week.
Yaāll loved this viral meme about the weather I reposted from last year. Itās always the posts that I try the least hard on that go the most viral. š
Kelsey and Baden went to the opening of Heal smoothie on 17th. I am jealous as their acai bowls look so good.
Looking for a discounted date night? Kelsey put together list of deals from popular restaurants.
Itās supposed to be COLD AF this week. So this list of amazing soups in Calgary might just hi the spot.
Hereās a look inside Moonlight & Eli Champagne and Fondue restaurant. Itās such a cute spot in a tiny pink house. I will be back for chocolate fondue and a French 75.š„
š°ļø DISCOUNT CODES & DEALS ALERT š°ļø
Some of these discounts Iāve arranged and some Iāve just come across and thought were cool. These are limited time offers, so donāt hesitate!
Get up to 80% off Fresh Prep meal making kits (new customers only) Use code INFSOCIABLE80 I recently started getting meal kits from Fresh Prep! Yes, yes, this is an ad. But dammit, itās actullllly pretty good. This week with the minus 30 weather, having food LITERALLY dropped off at my door was just shining light in the dark depression of winter. If I had to go the grocery store in this weather I would lose my mind. (If my car even started at all that is.) Anyway, all this to say, Iām not just throwing a discount code at you, I actually do think Fresh Prep is great based on my experience thus far.
The Horizon of Khufu: A Journey to Ancient Egypt at Chinook Centre 20% off with code KhufuSARAH20 Okay, this is another one that is an ad. š But I legit feel like this is an underrated experience. If youāre into VR or Egypt or just doing things that donāt involve freezing to death. This activity is where itās at. Take your kids but also take your grandparents, fun will be had by all. Pro-tip, I recommend going when itās not busy (probably a weekday) and also youāll save a few bucks if you go on day with less tickets booked. (Also I donāt get anything if you use my code, so there is no personal gain in my telling you this, this is my real opinion!).

Murder in the Park only at Heritage Park for a short time!
š WANNA WIN? ENTER HERE! š
Donāt forget to enter this fun giveaway with Heritage Park where you can win tickets to āMurder in the Park: A Wedding to Die Forā murder mystery dinner series. Catch it until April 5! (That sounds like a long time, but itās only on weekends so there arenāt that many available dates! Plus I think itās selling like hotcakes so those dates might be limited, anyway, if you seriously want tickets, I wouldnāt wait!)
What do you think? Did you find something fun to do!? Cuz thatās all that really matters. I will be testing out different sections in the upcoming weeks! So stay tuned for more.
Also, if you forget this entire email by Thursday, just check my Instagram for a reminder of events for this weekend, I post it at noon (or at like 11:45am if Iām feeling ambitious).
See you next Sunday around 6pm! š
Cheers!
Sarah
