• 📚 CALGARY READS BIG BOOK SALE: From May 11-17 you can head down to the Calgary Curling Club and shop used books! The parking situation is not great but they do have some parking advice listed on their website. (Free entry)

• 🍔 SHAKE SHACK GRAND OPENING: After a loooong stretch of teasing, Shake Shack is finally opening in Chinook Mall this Monday at 10:30am. Expect burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, and frozen shakes and custards. I’ve never had Shake Shack before! I wonder if it lives up to the hype…??

• 🤠 Murrieta’s announced they would be closing a while back, but the exact closing date has been pushed several times. In their latest announcement they’ve said that Murrieta’s will now be open through Stampede to August 1. (My guess is the delay is related to the opening of their new restaurant Alva which will be in on the first floor of the Edison building downtown. But I’m just guesssing)

• 🏡 Sora is a new community in SE Calgary where Rohit is building homes.

• 🎤 RoundUpFest is a big concert that happens each year in Calgary, this year they’ve expanded over 2 days! They have a killer line up with Billy Idol headlining Day 1 and Foster the People headlining day 2. See full line up here.

• 🤠Oxford Stomp announced their line up as well. The Arkells and Portugal the Man are headlining. See full line up here.

• 🍨 Made by Marcus just opened a new location over the weekend in Willow Park. Just in time for summer ice cream!

• ☕Speaking of new locations, University District will be getting an Analog coffee shop this fall.

• 🐕 Save the dates for the 2026 Corgi Races on July 4 and 2026 Duchshund Dash on Aug 29 at Century Downs.

• 🍺Craft Beer Market is opening a new location in the South! Shepard Flats (130th ave) will see it come to life this September.

• 🍷 Spruce Meadows is making big moves by welcoming 2 major Calgary festivals to their location in the south. Rocky Mountain Food & Wine Festival and Global Fest Fireworks Festival will both now be held at Spruce Meadows for the first time ever. This is a bit more of a drive for people, but otherwise in my mind, not a bad idea.

• 🏈Calgary is getting the Grey Cup this year and if you want good seats, tomorrow (May 11) tickets go on sale!
