🗝️SUNDAY SNEAK PEEK - Sept 14, 2025

Your key to Calgary's headliners and hot gossip

Hi friends,

Well I have been keeping a secret… and it’s that I’m going on vacation! LMAO. Okay it wasn’t so much a secret as that I’ve been so busy I forgot to mention it. But I’ll be going to Italy, Germany and Hungary. This trip was somewhat last minute (planned in August) when I found out some friends were going to Oktoberfest in Munich and decided that was my sign to go too as I’ve wanted to go to Oktoberfest for as long as I can remember. So while I’m sad to be missing the Calgary parties, I’ll be cheers-ing you from across the world. Prost! 🍻

(also, I don’t have any newsletters planned for you while I’m gone, sorry 😪)

🥨CENTURY DOWNS OKTOBERFEST🍻

Speaking of Oktoberfest, if my journey is making you jealous, you can find a little bit of Munich here in Calgary this Saturday Sept 20 at Century Downs Oktoberfest

They’ll have live music from Du Hast Musik, Bavarian food, Paulaner beer, and of course horse racing! 🏇

Your ticket includes a souvenir stein and your first pour of Paulaner beer!

Advance tickets are $35 or limited tickets are available at the door for $40.

Dance Party GIF

A curated list of the best fun events! Get out of your house and do one (or more!) of these fun events happening this week!

MONDAY

  • 🦪 BUY 1 GET 1 OYSTERS: Every Monday at Big Fish Open Range. You buy 1 oyster and ya get 1 free! ($4 each)

TUESDAY

WEDNESDAY

  • 👻 FALL GHOST TOURS: There are multiple dates for Heritage Park’s ghost tours, but they sell out every year, so definitely do not wait to buy tickets. They’re on midweek until Oct 16. I’ve done this tour before and it was cute, it’s not scary, it’s more educational/historical in nature. It does say it’s recommend you be 16 years or older to go though. ($25)

  • 🍕 $5 LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA: Little Caesars is doing a customer appreciation day with $5 medium pizzas (cheese or pepperoni) All day!

THURSDAY

FRIDAY

  • 🏈 STAMPS HOME GAME: Cheer on the Stamps when they go up against the BC Lions this Friday ($40+)

  • 🎵 90S DANCE PARTY: Now this is my kinda party. If you were raised on Much Video Dance parties than you know what I’m talking about. Use code PURECASINO for 25% off tickets (making tickets only $13.39!)

SATURDAY

  • 🐼 WILD AFTER HOURS TAPIERS (18+): It’s Adults-only night at the Zoo! I feel guilty putting this one on my list because it is sold out, so you can’t actually go, SORRY FOR GETTING YOUR HOPES UP, but the good news is there are still tickets for the Oct 25th for the same event! (Buy tix asap if you wanna go) ($125)

  • 🌙 4TH STREET NIGHT MARKET: This is also the last outdoor night market for the season for 4th street. 5-10pm at Central Memorial Park. FREE admission!

  • 🥨 CENTURY DOWNS OKTOBERFEST: Celebrate Oktoberfest with music, food, beer, games and more! 🍺 ($35)

SUNDAY

  • 🛍️ THE BARN ARTISAN MARKET: Don’t fret! As the Barn Artisan Market still has dates left for 2025, but if you want to go shopping this Sunday, you can do that too. FREE admission.

DID YOU HEAR!? 😮

Heard around the water cooler this week. 👂

(I stuffed a lot in here as I’ll be gone for a couple weeks)

  • I think most Calgarians have heard of Eric Francis Pizza Pigout, as this annual event was first introduced in 1996!! All of Calgary’s pizza places convene at Cowboys where everyone taste tests slices in this awesome all-you-can-eat pizza event that supports KidSport Calgary. 🍕🍕🍕 I bought my tickets! See you there!

  • The Calgary Opera is always doing new cool things in an effort to introduce younger people to the industry. I think it was last year that they started “Arias and Ales”, where you get dinner, beer, and music all in one go at Best of Kin for $20 entry (food & drink charges are separate). 🎵 This year’s dates are Sept 21, Nov 23, Mar 15, Apr 26. It’s a good way to dip your toes into the Opera scene in a casual setting.

  • Shhhhh! Word on the street is Tops Pizza South is going to throw a Garlic Festival come November. 🧄 OMG I love this so much. I’ll let you know if/when I find out more!

  • If you have a loved one who’s into F1 racing, TracksVR is doing an end of summer sale with up to 50% off their merch. Stop by or shop online, perhaps a Christmas gift? 🏎️💨

  • Canmore has a new Food Walk Tour! Walk, eat, and explore with a guide. Its $139 and includes 5-6 stops. Would be a cute fall activity!

  • 🍕 Kids eat FREE at Boston Pizza all September long (basically with every purchase of an adult meal you get a free kids meal)

  • Feast on 4th is back! Sept 24-28 get special $10 dishes all along 4th street in Mission! This event is so popular they’ve been doing it twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.

  • New coffee shop alert! ☕ This totes adorbs coffee shop sneakily opened right under our noses this August. It’s called Wander Coffee and they’ve got coffee, soft serve ice cream and cocktails all in what appears to be a luxurious atmosphere with gold accented decor.

  • Extended Happy hour alert! 🍷 Teatro is doing an 11:30am-4:30pm happy hour Mon-Fri (I think to combat construction happening right next to it)

    • ½ price sparkling wine, martins, and zero proof cocktails

    • ½ price pizza

    • $1.5 oysters

Hope you have a good week friends! And I’ll see you in October!

Cheers!

Sarah

Accuracy: I do this newsletter alone and inevitably it will feature a typo or two (or I might have got my details mixed up, I am just a frequently hungover person after all). Furthermore, event details can change at the organizer’s whim, please double check before you head out anywhere. That said, I think this is 99.9% accurate! I try my best!
